PROCESSING
Melting of gold and precious metals
The gold and precious metals melting process at Cormas Spa is designed to maximise metal recovery, ensuring perfect homogeneity, which is essential for every subsequent analysis and refining stage.
Melting equipment
The melting of materials containing gold, silver and PGMs is a delicate thermal process that requires full control of variables to avoid material loss. At Cormas, two types of furnaces are used depending on the material to be homogenised:
- Gas furnaces (propane/oxygen burner): Gas furnaces for melting gold and silver are equipped with a propane burner with automatic ignition and shutdown. The furnace crucible must be tilted for pouring, an operation carried out by hydraulic jacks controlled by a dedicated unit.
- Electromagnetic induction furnaces: this is the most widely used technology in modern laboratories and gold foundries. The metal is melted by the electromagnetic field generated by a coil, without direct contact with a flame
The choice of equipment depends on the type and quantity of material to be melted.
Cormas: a trusted and expert partner for the homogenisation of precious metal-bearing materials
Cormas Spa handles gold processing and melting with experience and expertise. We operate a protocol with certified weighing on input and output, along with transparent reporting of any technical losses due to the elimination of non-metallic impurities.
The melting of gold, silver and/or PGMs is a fundamental step in the processing of precious metal-bearing materials: choosing Cormas means selecting a partner capable of transforming waste into real value. Contact us for more information.
